Low vision can make individuals feel they have few options to participate in activities they once enjoyed. Florida Eye Institute hosts a monthly support group for those with limited or impaired vision to network, socialize, and learn how to manage the challenges of daily living.
Low vision is defined as a visual impairment that cannot be corrected by standard eyeglasses, contact lenses, medication, or surgery that interferes with the ability to perform everyday activities. Macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and retinitis pigmentosa, along with many other eye diseases, are causes of visual impairment or low vision.
The group meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Florida Eye Institute, 2750 Indian River Blvd. on the corner of Royal Palm Pointe in Vero Beach. Call 772-569-9500 for more information.
