Cleared for Take-off- Santa Passes Eye Exam at Florida Eye Institute

Just in time for his all-important Christmas Eve flight, Santa has passed his annual eye exam at Florida Eye Institute. This year, Santa not only delivers toys to good girls and boys, but is especially excited about bringing gifts to seniors in need through the Santa for Seniors program coordination by The United Way of Indian River County and the Senior Resource Association.

As corporate sponsor for the Santa for Seniors program, Florida Eye Institute invited Santa to greet patients and encourage them to contribute an unwrapped gift for the annual program that runs through December 15th. Requested items include clothing (robes, sweatpants, sweatshirts, pajamas) household items such as nonperishable food, sheets, towels, blankets and personal care items such as shampoo and conditioner.

Santa was examined by Dr. Val Zudans, President of Florida Eye Institute and given full clearance to command his sled on Christmas Eve.

“Santa has healthy vision for a gentleman his age. His distance vision is clear; he only needs spectacles for up-close reading. We did prescribe protective eyewear for him while flying his sled. We don’t want Santa to risk visual injury from ice or rooftop debris getting into his eyes. Our mission at Florida Eye Institute is to provide the clearest sight possible for all patients – even Santa.”

Florida Eye Institute is located at 2750 Indian River Blvd. at the corner of Royal Palm Pointe in Vero Beach. Contact 772.569-9500 or www.fleye.com for more information.
