What is Dry Eye?

Dry Eye Syndrome is a very common, often under-treated, and sometimes debilitating ocular disease. The eyes depend on tears for lubrication, nutrition, and maintaining a clear surface to look through.

What causes Dry Eye?

Dry eye is usually caused by either the eyes not making enough tears or tear production being of the wrong consistency of oil/water, causing premature evaporation off the surface of the eye. Certain medications can cause dry eyes. Post-menopausal women are also more prone to this condition.
